Emanual Medical Campus

For the Emanuel Medical Campus, the addition of future bed towers to replace outdated buildings required extensive analysis to allow the existing facility to remain operational. By diagraming the proposed circulation patterns during the Master Plan phases, Lionakis was able to validate how Emanuel Medical Center would continue to serve patients. This analysis occurred on several levels including site circulation and interior building circulation.  As with most medical campuses Emanuel had a wide variety of traffic types that were considered. Lionakis was able to separate the traffic types and coordinate them effectively.  The team was able to maintain safe routes of clear circulation within the existing buildings as well during the proposed expansion and remodel. Lastly the team ensured that utilities to all operational areas of the campus are not impacted while addressing how to expand the capacity of the Central Utility Plant without taking it off-line.
