Boys & Girls Club – Valley Center Branch Multi-Purpose Building Transformation

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego

When a school building sits empty after the bell rings, it represents a missed opportunity for the community around it. The Boys & Girls Club Valley Center Branch turned that equation around, transforming the existing multi-purpose building at Valley Center Upper Elementary School into a joint-use facility that effectively serves both the Boys & Girls Club and the school.

The reimagined space introduces an art room, computer lab, and flexible multi-purpose room. Updated restrooms and a redesigned entry complete the renovation, with a new arrival sequence doing double duty: improving sightlines to the parking and drop-off area for safety while creating an experience scaled to the children walking through it. Vibrant colors and architectural details sized for younger visitors signal from the moment of arrival that this is a place designed with them in mind and setting the stage for a day filled with learning and exploration.
