CSU Sacramento Library Innovation Lab

California State University, Sacramento

A former media storage room in the Sacramento State Campus Library is now one of the most dynamic student spaces on campus. The Innovation Center transforms underutilized square footage into a hands-on hub for manufacturing, prototyping, and creative technology, serving as a place where students can make things, not just study them.

A glass dividing wall separates "clean" and "dirty" project spaces, allowing precision work and fabrication to happen side by side. Green walls and integrated media outlets give students a built-in platform to document and share their projects on various social media outlets. Flexible, durable furniture adapts to varied project needs, and provides the campus with a much-needed space to help students prepare for careers in technology.
