Kaiser Permanente Lathrop Mental Health & Wellness Clinic
Kaiser Permanente
Kaiser Permanente's new Mental Health and Wellness Clinic in Lathrop was designed around the concept of, "Tranquil Valley," drawing its character from Lathrop's agricultural heritage. Murals and graphics throughout the waiting room and corridors depict the surrounding farmlands, grounding the space in something local and familiar. Materials and finishes carry the connection to the outdoors inward, creating a sense of openness within an interior environment. The palette was selected to diminish stress and anxiety without feeling clinical, while a strong wayfinding logic guides members, staff, and guests naturally through waiting areas, group therapy rooms, and offices.
The layout of the 26,000 square foot facility encourages the kind of incidental connection that supports recovery: informal gathering spaces and community-oriented configurations give members opportunities to meet and interact on their own terms. The transformation incorporates sustainable strategies throughout, reflecting a commitment to the long-term wellbeing of both the people inside and the community around it.
