Sacramento River Water Intake Structure

The new Sacramento Intake Structure had two main functional requirements—to supply water at a capacity of 160 million gallons per day and to ensure the associated fish screens would meet current regulatory agency requirements. The design team created a structure that engaged the community and gave Sacramento a new river landmark. The structure, an iconic symbol that represents Sacramento’s relationship with its rivers, has won numerous design awards.
