The Education Studio in Newport Beach, including members of our new Science and Technology Studio (formerly Lundstrom & Associates), returned for a second site visit of their current project under construction at Orange High School to check out all the exciting progress that has been made over the last few months by the General Contractor, Pinner Construction. The new, 49,000 square foot, Orange High School Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Center will have four Chemistry laboratories, eight general science classrooms, one general classroom and two medically fragile classrooms. This new addition will not only be the largest building on campus but also is the first major project at the campus in more than 50 years.
In site visit one, which occurred in the Fall of 2019, steel framing was being set. With so much significant progress since then, the Newport Beach Education Studio was able to access the interiors as well as the roof containing the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems, while also being able to see the interior and exterior framing at various stages. This second site visit has not only provided a valuable learning opportunity for the Newport Beach Education Studio, but the entire Education Studio as a whole as they have been able to assess the ongoing construction and learn about the various systems. The project is estimated to be completed in mid-2020, with reoccurring site visits throughout the duration of construction to check out the exciting progress! Stay tuned for further development of this highly anticipated project!
