San Jose Evergreen Auto Tech

This new building provides a cutting-edge technical facility with hands-on high bay space for learning about the detailed mechanical design and maintenance of modern vehicles. The Automotive Technology field is a choice for many first generation college students.  Creating an environment that is welcoming and focused on simplicity, order and an emphasis on the technical work at hand was part of how the design sought to be truly inclusive. The building is also responsive to the existing architectural context and reflects some of the architectural features in the adjacent buildings. The design includes an outdoor plaza/patio that provides views to the lower campus, while providing an opportunity for the Auto-Tech students to gather and interact with each other.
