Olive Ranch Elementary School

Lionakis was selected to design a 25,400 square foot kindergarten/1st grade primary school that also provides community accessible amenities including administrative facilities, a multi-purpose building with a commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor stages and a full basketball court, a library and media center, as well as joint use of an adjacent public park. The school is arranged around a courtyard with an orchard theme and architectural elements are configured to compliment the residential surroundings and evoke the neighborhood’s agricultural past. A Special Education Center, a collaboration between the Eureka Union School District and the Placer County Office of Education was added to the campus. The new center has three special education rooms for severely handicapped children that surround a medical therapy unit.
