Last Tuesday, our SF office toured TechShop in the City. If you’re unfamiliar with TechShop they are a community based workshop and prototyping studio on a mission to democratize access to the tools of innovation. They also describe themselves as “a playground for creativity with an open-access, DIY workshop and fabrication space with many tools available for use like 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and injection molding. They are a collaborative space where entrepreneurs, designers, artists, makers, teachers and students come together to learn, work, and create together.” They are all about making the tools for innovation easily accessible to the public. The tour was very inspiring and sparked our creativity to better integrate the process of fabrication into our process of design.
