Sustainability is at the forefront of what we do at Lionakis. As one of our core values, we firmly believe that sustainable design is simply good design and the right thing to do for projects and the communities we serve.

Given all the circumstances that 2020 threw our way, our in-house Sustainability Team was still able to successfully make significant progress on many sustainable efforts occurring in projects throughout all our markets. We celebrate these accomplishments as we continue to strive for decreasing an environmental footprint in the communities that we live in and serve. Our 2020 sustainable achievements include:

Three projects which obtained LEED Gold including:

  1. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Folsom State Prison
  2. Department of General Services (DGS), CALFire Ione Dorms
  3. California State University, Los Angeles, Bioscience Innovation Center

Our Sustainability Studio also added three more Rating Systems to our resume for projects currently underway including The WELL Building Standard, the Sustainability SITES Initiative (SITES) and Zero Net Energy (ZNE).

In addition, our Sustainability Studio was able to successfully increase our Engineering News-Record’s Top Green Design Firms ranking from 100 in 2019 to 87 in 2020!

These are achievements we are proud of, and we look forward to continuing to raise the bar in 2021 and pursuing sustainable solutions in all of our projects, continuing to design a better future.
