The 2019 Summer Intern Series that has taken place at Lionakis this summer recently concluded with one final, fun activity called a “Sketchwalk”. To break the ice and led by Casey Wong, Designer II in our Education Studio, (who was an intern himself a few years ago!)  the interns were paired with participants from other markets throughout the firm. Each of the teams was given the opportunity to explore a two-block radius around Lionakis’ midtown Sacramento office. After determining their destination, each intern sketched, wrote, doodled and expressed more about the location they chose within an hour’s time. You might recognize some popular midtown sites in their sketches below!

The goal of the activity was to communicate and capture each  location to the rest of the group and convey their individual experiences and interpretations of the different spaces. The activity was an amazing way to see how people focus on a space and how everyone conveys places differently to others.

The 2019 Intern Summer Series has been an incredible way for our interns to learn all about Lionakis and our mission of Designing a Better Future. We are greatly appreciative of each of them for choosing to spend their summer with us both in Newport Beach and Sacramento and for being open to learning and thinking creatively to make their experience at our firm one to remember.
